Situation descriptions: The distribution network plays a vital role in the power system as the user’s consumption experience is closely related to the operation of the distribution network. At the same time, the utilities’ power transmission capacity is also feedback in the operation of the distribution network. However, due to various factors that make the distribution network deeply affected by faults during operation, faults need to be discovered, studied, and resolved in time, in order to avoid adverse effects on the reliable operation of the distribution network. Relying on years of experience in research, development and promotion of automatic, information-based, and interactive products in the field of smart grid distribution and power generation fields, Banner Electric is able to minimize the impact of faults on the power distribution network and make troubleshooting on time by combination of its field fault information detection device, on-site cutting of fault equipment, and back-end data analysis software

Solutions: Banner Electric proposed the concept of segmented fault monitoring for 10 kV and 0.4 kV two-level distribution circuits based on the distribution network operation rules. The overhead transient remote fault record indicator is installed on the 10 kV side by sections to record waveforms and data in case of faults, and the primary/ secondary fusion circuit breaker is used to complete the detection and protection of the segmented lines. Fault information is uploaded timely or local instructions are offered, which minimizes the fault impact area and guarantees the fault analysis and positioning in time. Meanwhile, the intelligent transformer area comprehensive management device is installed on the low-voltage 0.4kV side of the transformer station to realize real-time detection of operating data, recording of fault information, analysis of fault information, and cutting of faulty lines; and the intelligent detection unit is installed at branch points to compare the data of the period and the previous period, extract human errors during operation. Therefore, the impact caused by faults is minimized, and safe and stable operation of the distribution network is ensured.
